Life isn't a dress rehearsal: it's the real thing, and so is Living in our Light

You've probably heard the expression "Life's not a dress rehearsal."

Unfortunately, sometimes we act as if it IS a dress rehearsal! Like an actress just going through the motions in order to conserve energy for the opening night, we hold back.

Perhaps you save the best glassware for when you have guests; perhaps you rarely dress up when you are home alone. If you are not playing to an audience, does it really matter?

That's a good question to ask ourselves as the New Year begins and we examine the quality of our real life journey. It takes more effort to set an inviting table, but it enhances the enjoyment of living. We all feel better when we dress up for an occasion, but even more, we act different.

Every actress knows the magic power of props and costumes to create special moods both on and off stage. I love dressing up every day as though I am about to do something very important, as though I am about to meet someone very important. Even if I never go out the door and I am sitting at my desk writing my book or doing the house work all day I will dress up and put on my make up: as though I am about to party!

I live as though each day is the most important day of my life; and dressing up helps me into that role of living my greatest light, allowing my outside self to shine, which, in turn, helps my inner self to shine too.

Embellishing ourselves with something fabulous e.g. a jewel-toned dress, a cheerful tie, a jaunty hat or a colourful shirt truly does have a transformative effect on our mood. It has the awesome ability to conjure up miraculous happenings, enchanted encounters and the stuff of legends.

When you perform ... you expand, you become larger, more potent and more beautiful. This is the way I feel when I am in the throes of performing my passion: like singing my heart out, losing myself in writing my book, trekking the sheer ups and downs of the rugged Cornish coastal path; this ecstatic feeling can belong to us daily when we step into the limelight of ourselves.

We can each tap into the power, the excitement and the glory of real life whenever we wish by choosing to cast ourselves in the role of making this day, and this moment now, the performance of our life.

All we have to do is to elevate ourselves to the art of performance of our most spectacular and glorified Self, which will necessarily be flowing and effortless as it becomes aligned with our innate stardom: this is truly living in our Light and living artfully - at its best!

And so I live my life flamboyantly, boldly, lustily and with passion and give it my best shot: living in my light, love and passion to the full and being dressed for the occasion to boot!

It really helps to dress the part as well as act the part you were born to do, it helps reel in the reality you dream of - and make it real.

So let's give it our best shot and go for real. Let's live in our light and shine right now; I promise you will feel better and lighter. And en-lighten your world with your luminous light and dazzling performance; you will, with the lantern of your love, illuminate yourself and your world to wholeness.

Hello Leela, lovely dress.
I hear what you are saying. Act as if.
For the most part I tend to dress for warmth, epeshhially in this weather( why have you no snow in these photos?).
So wooljumpers & mohair long john are my current favorites, haha.
I think when we do 'mucky' jobs ie baking, mucking out animals, lab work, gardening, painting,(parenting!), some creative work ie working with wood or metal or clay etc it's sometimes more functional to wear 'doesn't matter clothes'.
Also I have found myself sometimes not doing stuff because I wore new shoes or other 'best' clothes witch would have suffered as consequence. Anyway that's my 2 cents.
love
